About me

Hi, I'm Chibuikem Prince, Your Igbo Language Guy

The first day I started learning Spanish, I was sure I’d never get it. I stuck around just to prove my overly-optimistic self wrong—but turns out, it was right. Y ahora, entiendo y hablo más que un poco, ¡y se siente maravilloso! Ja ja ja—yep, I even picked up a Spanish laugh.

At first, it’s just noise. You try to pick out familiar sounds, but it feels like everything sounds the same—all gibberish. Then one day, something clicks, and little by little those unfamiliar sounds start to make sense all on their own as they float around you. Your tongue, once shy and uncertain, starts to find its rhythm, and you catch yourself, every now and then, daring to say a few words.

It’s like crossing a line from confusion to connection. It’s like suddenly hearing a song you’ve never understood, but now the lyrics are clear, and you find yourself, not just humming, but singing along. You may still have a long way to go, but you’ve gotten through that door—and now your real journey begins (the fun and exciting one).

As a language lover and someone who’s been in the learner’s shoes, I get the highs and lows that come with mastering a new language. That firsthand experience helps me bring empathy and real insight into my teaching, making it not just about learning words, but truly connecting with a new way of thinking and expressing yourself.

Learning a language isn’t a marathon; it’s more like stepping through a door. And once you’re in, you’ve got a lifetime to enjoy it. The trick is to keep adding one new palabra every day, and maybe cincuenta on the days you’re less ocupado.
